The advantage: choosing the right racquet

Grip size
Grip is one of the most critical elements when selecting a new racquet. If the grip is too small you could start to hold it too hard to prevent it spinning in your hand; this can lead to tennis elbow or other injuries.
A grip that’s too big will hinder your racquet control, because of the difficulty in changing your hand position. At Wigmore the Racquet Specialists, we’ll always check you have the right grip size.
Club or Improver players
Your choice of racquet at this level of play, if selected correctly, will really improve your game.
Head size
You will find it easier to centre the ball with a 98-105sq inch head size racquet.
Weight
The standard frame weight for players in this category is between 275g and 300g. The lighter racquet can be less tiring on the arm and easier to manoeuvre, but a light frame will usually be heavier in its balance and can strain the arm.
Performance or Tournament players
At your level, you know what you like and what works for you. However you’ll probably require at least two frames, and want them identical.
Did you know between two same model racquets there could be as much as 10 grammes difference in weight, and a difference in balance of 10mm? They might as well be two different racquets.
We’ll make sure they’re matched perfectly. We have the technology and ability to ensure your racquets are weighted and balanced in perfect symmetry. So you’re guaranteed the same frame flex and string tension, in fact all the ingredients you demand to maximise your potential.
The opportunity to ‘try before you buy’ with our racquet demonstration programme is your guarantee to making the right choice.
